Ceci n'est plus du folk is a project that explores the possible relationship between traditional folk and electronic arrangements. I have chosen well known folk tunes from different regions of Italy and kept the fragments that I consider to be the key element of each song. Starting from these quotations I have stitched around them new musical elements that incorporate electronic production, seeking to give what I perceive as reasonably dated music contemporary relevance through recycling and renovation. Besides being a tentative experiment to test if merging Italian folk elements with electronic arrangements can lead to a result that is conceptually and aesthetically satisfactory, this is also a way to incorporate my origins into my compositions while exploring how travels have affected the amount of Italian character in my music. I have picked songs that belong to the repertoire of Italian folk, but with ears and taste of someone who has travelled, lived and studied music abroad, developing a compositional style that reflects the music and stimuli I have been exposed to over the last few years.
